Advisory Committee on Compensation Claims (ACCC)

The Advisory Committee on Compensation Claims (ACCC) is responsible for determining claims for compensation for death, injury or illness. The Committee makes recommendations on the validity of the claim and on the amount that should be paid to the staff member or the person entitled to compensation. The ACCC consists of five members and five alternates, of which two members and two alternates must be drawn from the membership of the FAO Staff Pension Committee. Of those, one of each must be drawn from among the Director-General's representatives on the FAO Staff Pension Committee, and one of each from among the staff's representatives on that Committee. Advisory Committee on Occupational Health and Safety (ACOHS)

The Advisory Committee on Occupational Health and Safety (ACOHS) makes recommendations to the Director-General on policies and procedures affecting the health and safety of staff and others using the FAO headquarters buildings and, to the extent possible, field offices. Appeals Committee

The Appeals Committee acts on individual appeals by staff members against adverse disciplinary actions or administrative decisions by the Director-General or his delegates. The Committee also makes recommendations for any changes to the appeals procedures as set out in the FAO Staff Manual. The Committee consists of a Chair and two alternate Chairs appointed by the FAO Council, two members and five alternates nominated by the Director-General and two members and five alternates elected by the staff at large. Investigation Panel on Harassment

The Investigative Panel on Harassment was established in May 1996 by Administrative Circular (A/C 96/13). In addition to stating the Organization's policies on sexual harassment, the Circular defines sexual harassment and sets out the procedures to be followed in cases of sexual harassment involving FAO staff members. The Circular sets out an informal approach and also a formal approach, with the latter consisting of consideration by the Investigative Panel on Harassment. The Panel consists of three members and three alternates appointed by the Director-General after consultation with the staff representatives. For cases occurring at field duty stations, the Panel selects one of its members and also designates two staff members serving at the duty station in question. Joint Advisory Committee on Medical Coverage (JAC/MC)

The Joint Advisory Committee on Medical Coverage (JAC/MC) advises the Director General on the status of and proposed changes to the medical insurance plans. Click here to see the ToRs of this committee. The current AP-in-FAO Reps on the JAC/MC are:

Joint Committee on Food Services (JCFS)

 

The Joint Committee on Food Services (JCFS) is designated by the Director-General to be responsible for guidance on policy and on the overall form and management of all food and beverage services provided in FAO Headquarters. The Director-General hereby delegates authority to the Committee to decide on the overall operational and service arrangements and advise him of their decisions. On all other matters, and any with policy and financial implications for the Organization, the Committee shall submit its proposals to the Director-General for appropriate decision. Pension Committee

The FAO Staff Pension Committee administers pension fund matters within the Organization. For more information on this committee, click here; for the membership of this committee, here.

Professional Staff Selection Committee (PSSC)

A Professional Staff Selection Committee (PSSC) is established in each Regional Office, Headquarters Department and Office of Deputy Director-General (covering also Divisions reporting directly to the respective DDG). A PSSC is also established for Offices reporting directly to the Director-General. Each PSSC is responsible for handling the selection process for professional posts falling under its staffing structure in accordance its terms of reference. In addition to their own posts, the Regional Committees are also responsible for professional posts in Subregional offices and in the FAO Representations under the Regional Office’s responsibility. Staff Management Consultative Committee (SMCC)

Without prejudice to the authority of Members and the Director-General and in accordance with the established rules and regulations and the Recognition Agreements between the Organization and the Staff Representative Bodies (SRBs), the Committee is established as the forum for dialogue and consultation between Management and SRBs on matters pertaining to terms and conditions of employment and general welfare of staff and to provide recommendations and advice to Senior Management. The Committee will operate under the general principle that, under the provisions governing his constitutional responsibility, the Director-General retains the right of final determination on matters within his/her authority. Click here to see the ToRs of the SMCC.
